24 Solar Terms – Awakening of Insects (Third Solar Term of Spring)
- Gregorian Calendar: March 5, 2025 to March 19, 2025
- Lunar Calendar: Fifth day of the second month to the twentieth day of the second month
- Sun's position in the zodiac: 345 degrees
This solar term signifies the warming of temperatures and the start of spring, as well as the beginning of farmers' busy planting season. "Awakening of Insects" refers to the spring thunder waking up the insects that have been dormant in the soil, not eating or moving. During this period, thunderstorms become more frequent, causing insects in the soil to wake up and emerge, symbolizing the awakening of hibernating plants and animals and the arrival of spring.
Well-being
Diet:
The liver energy is strong during the Awakening of Insects and can easily affect the spleen, leading to symptoms of spleen and stomach weakness. It's suitable to nourish and soothe the liver during this period. Additionally, the throat may feel dry and itchy, so avoid fried and spicy foods. A light diet is recommended, avoiding greasy foods. Fresh vegetables such as bamboo shoots, spinach, celery, chicken, eggs, milk, aloe, bitter melon, rape, and lotus seeds are suitable foods, as well as hydrating ingredients like pears, loquats, white fungus, and yams.
Lifestyle:
- Temperature Fluctuations: This solar term has the fastest temperature rise of the year, but the weather remains unstable, with large temperature fluctuations. It's essential to dress appropriately and prevent colds.
- Exercise: Engage in suitable exercises such as yoga or tai chi, which can relax joints and muscles.
- Outdoor Activities: Choose times with fresh air to take a walk, maintain a cheerful mood, boost vitality, and help relax the body and mind.
Aromatherapy:
As temperatures rise and rainy days increase, bacteria and viruses become more active. Therefore, the period around the Awakening of Insects is also a season prone to allergies and infectious diseases. Aromatherapy massages can promote blood circulation and enhance immunity, helping the body adapt to the current environment.
- Head Massage: Brushing the hair can enhance the development of yang energy and improve resistance to illness.
- Daily Aromatherapy Massage:
- Tai Chong Point: Massaging for 10 minutes can relax the organs and improve blood circulation.
- Zusanli Point: Massaging for 10 minutes can enhance spleen and stomach functions, aiding digestion, absorption, and metabolism.
- Fengchi Point: Massaging for 10 minutes can boost yang energy and improve blood circulation.
