Santalaceae Essential Oil
Santalaceae plants can be trees, shrubs, or herbaceous plants. During their early stages, some species are parasitic on the roots of other trees, but later they become independent.
Morphological Features:
Leaves are typically simple, arranged oppositely or alternately, and have entire margins. In some cases, leaves may be scale-like or absent.
The inflorescences can be spike-like, panicles, or head-like. The flowers are small, lack petals, and have fleshy sepals with a floral disc.
The fruits can be drupes or nut-like structures.
Distribution Range:
The Santalaceae family comprises approximately 45 genera with around 1400 species. These plants are widely distributed in tropical and temperate regions worldwide.
