Poaceae Essential Oil
Poaceae plants are either annual or perennial herbaceous plants. Their above-ground stems are specifically called culms, and the internodes are hollow.
Morphological Features:
Leaves are typically simple, arranged alternately or opposite in two rows. They have narrow, elongated leaf blades with parallel veins. Each leaf has a sheath, ligule, and auricles.
The inflorescences are spike-like, panicles, or head-like. The flowers are small and lack petals. Instead, they have two specialized fleshy scales called lodicules. The stamens number three.
Fruit Types: a caryopsis
Distribution Range:
The Poaceae family comprises approximately 668 genera with over 10,000 species. These plants are incredibly diverse in distribution: From tropical to temperate regions. From acidic to alkaline soils, even saline areas. From high mountain peaks to plains and marshes. From deserts to forests and coastal beaches.
